What Little Creatures appear in Ice Age 3?

If you've seen a movie recently, you may have seen a commercial for Ice Age 3- Dawn of the Dinosaurs. And these little creatures come out in part of the movie. Are they Guinea Pigs? People were desperate to know, like me. Guinea Pigs in movies are so exciting.

Sadly enough, the little creatures are not Cavies. These small animals are called Hyrax. Are they related to Piggies in some way? Their genetics? DNA? Their Droppings?

 Once again, no. They are not rodents, even though they resemble them very much. The only similarity is that they share the same kingdom-Animalia, Chordata, then Mammalia. That's as far as it goes. Oh, and there is one more... they are herbivores.

Congrats to the hyraxes out there for being in a movie. Hopefully Guinea Pigs will be next. Hey, and while you are at it-check out the movie.
